If you are interested in seeing how this coating provides corrosion protection, check out this testing! Disclaimers: And yes, in testing it was a top performer! The hardness played a huge role in resisting scratches but so did the self lubrication of this coating, having a coefficient of friction less than 0.1 when completely dry. Our DLC is applied with a specific formula at ~5 µ (microns) thick (which is roughly 1/5th as thick as Cerakote) and much, much harder at just over 2,000 hv (or estimated at 75+ hrc for those of us into knife hardness values). I have tested and compared many many different PVD/CVD coatings and the DLC coating I settled on and now offer is not only superior to most of them in corrosion and wear resistance, but it is MUCH more consistent with a uniform, dark black color (which is difficult to find among DLC coatings believe it or not). While Cerakote is a good option for many knives my own testing has shown that it is not nearly as durable (wear resistant) as our DLC under hard use. Since the initial launch in 2017 I have researched and sampled several additional coatings (both PVD and CVD) and have settled on one of the best looking and most durable coatings on the market – and the best part is that it’s a true DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating with integrated corrosion resistance. #Deadlock otf trialWelcome to our DLC coating service!
