![]() ![]() I had three tones programmed (clean, rhythm and lead), plus the whammy effect on the expression pedal. Digitech gsp5 guitar preamp footswitch portable#A Digitech RP250 into my Tech21 Power Engine 60, that was a light, simple, functional and portable rig. I did while actively playing metal from 2008 to 2010, strictly for practical reasons. All with the sound of my amps, which I love. ![]() At the push of a button I can go from super-clean with a bit of slapback delay, to flanged, fuzzed-out, harmony leads with a solo boost and anything in-between. It's been a long time coming, but for me, the G-System finally fulfills the promise of the Digitech GSP5 I bought in the early 90s. Is it more difficult to program than a TS-9? Sure, but more involved than some of the Strymon stuff, etc? Nah. And it's a short one since the GS allows you to separate the effects rack from the pedal which then connects with a standard network cable. To use it with my Boogie Mk IV I need to use a impedance buffer and midi switcher, but with my Lonestar I only have to use a TRS snake. In addition, there are four switchable relays so the GS can switch my amp's channels and control the solo boost. With the GS, the filter section, compressor, and four switchable loops for my OD, distortion, fuzz, and EHX B9 pedals sit front of my amp, and all the time-based effects of the GS are in the amp's loop. I use the GS in four-cable mode with my Mesa Lonestar Special, and it controls every aspect of amp. Other units may offer more and/or funkier effects, but the effects in the GS are so transparent and don't color my tone in any way. My TC G-System may be long in the tooth, but the quality of its effects is still unmatched, IMO. With an amp, so you modelers get yer own thread. ![]()
